The Voices That Changed Me

Slice me open and watch me bleed

It’s for your own good they are telling me

You were numb before but now you’re freed

Ripping and prying, you’re hurting me

I listen to the voices that are haunting me

They’re making me my problem ever endlessly

Cutting at my corners, rearranging me

I’ll always be a slave to your memory

Reasons i am running free

Are the voices haunting me

Earth beneath my shaking feet

Walking on my path, trusting in me

Amidst the unknown, i kneel to pray

Asking for guidance to survive this day

Through the chaos i find my way

Loving the pieces that were rearranged

Reflection of perfection, it couldn’t last

I fell from grace, things changed so fast

You were almost there, now shattered glass

Bleeding from the edges of of my scattered past

I listen to the voices, a haunting plea

Forcing my hand, of who to be

Head under water, to wash me clean

Submerged in the emotions of what I’ve seen

Reasons I am swimming deep

Are the voices haunting me

Guided by emotions of who to be

Praying that these waters can wash me clean

Lost in the currents, take me to the sea

Transforming my faults Into strength for me

Courage to face what used to haunt me

Are the reason i am swimming free

Flood the gates and wash me out

You say you don’t trust me, You’re filled with doubt

You didn’t try before, But now you pray

Begging and pleading your drowning me

Searching for air, i must take flight

To be reborn after this dark night

Head above water, i hear the plea

Of the haunting voices that were changing me

The reason I am flying free

Are the voices changing me

Wind beneath my beating winds

Flying with spirit soaring with me

Adrift in the ether I spread my winds

into the sky where freedom rings

I see the arrows aim at me

Prepared to take me down; and watch me bleed

Pierce my wings and shoot me down

A hopeful game, I’ve been found out

I was gone before, but now I’m back

I don’t want to fight, this isn’t an attack

I listen to the voices tell me to leave

You’re just the same, too intense for me

Collecting all my feathers, you’re stalking me

I’ll always be a slave to what you see

The reasons I am falling steep

Are the arrows, shot at me

Judgements cast now strip me clean

Fully liberated of who I’ve been

As I fall i see the light

Fire burning in the night

Wings once beating, drift like a kit

To see what this fire will ignite

Start the fire, watch me burn

You say this is the only way I  will learn

You were cold before, now feel the heat

Scorching inferno you’re killing me

Cut at my edges, they rearranged me

And now in the fire they turn to steam

Grateful for the voices that have changed me

I’ll always remember what you taught to me

Are the voices that changed me

Fully enveloped in the heat

Burning with spirit a vivid dream

I listen to the voices that have taught me

How to transform my memories
