I fought for my freedom.

Now they try to take that too,

Because some only see the body,

And this viewpoint is new.

Our looks truly don’t share

The wisdom that we know.

So as I open up,I ask that you won’t go.

My body was born a boy.

I’ve learned to build my strength

With the emotions of a girl.

I’ve always known to pray.

Some dismissed me for my kindness.

Some loved me more because I’m gay.

So when I tell you my spirit is feminine,

There was a lot I had to learn.

Know that it’s always been a fight.

I grew up to be a good man,

To share my viewpoint of wrong and right,

To hope they would understand.

My gentleness dismissed

And belittled as a man.

Masculine and feminine principles

Are something all can understand.

With the masculine drive and force

To project and to defend,

Seems to be the reality

Most women are living in.

The feminine’s ability to observe,

To listen and understand,

Seems to be a role

I see forced on every man.

As women lean into anger,

The womb does not feel safe.

It makes a frightened man,

And that’s when you become a slave.
