A Blessing in Disguise

A blessing in disguise
Who doesn’t know what they are,
Like a sunny day rainbow
Or a goodnight shooting star.
To shine means to be,
And you illuminate my sky.
You started out questioning,
And now you know why.
You found a peace in me
You didn’t expect to find.
It’s okay when it isn’t gay,
But when I’m gay, you are less kind.
So I tow the line
Of who to be.
Go port, go starboard,
You’re sending me out to sea.
Your winds are in my sails,
And your coordinates point to me.
I’m splashing in my emotions,
Fully being seen.
I know it’s a lot to take,
And that’s why you seem so mean.
I’m not here to tell you who you are,
I’m just asking you to see
If there is a little more to you
The same light you see in me.
Why does love have to feel
so scary,
Two men deserve to love,
To live and be in union.
Until it happens, it’s just a fairytale,
A story of what’s to come again.
But while you live it, it’s so real.
Every moment means the world.
And it all comes crumbling down
When your efforts are ignored.
When you tow the line
And paint all the edges,
When you blur the lines
And hide behind the hedges.
Kissing guys and telling lies
Hasn’t looked so pretty since the last.
Why must you fail to see
I’m in the net you cast?
It’s like the story never ends,
And so I ask, “Is it me?”
Is this a hope I fail to see,
That each new story reflects the last?
I’m in a cycle
Trying to relive my past.
When will real love actually begin?
When will someone noble and ready
Finally step in?
I’ve been waiting for my King,
Being it all for my kingdom.
Slaying monsters,
Healing angels,
And remembering it must be done
.
I’m stronger than I’ve been before,
Taking on much more than my fair share.
Learning how to be of service,
How to offer tender loving care.
I’m learning how to show the best of me.
I’m seeing how much I have to offer
How amazing I am as a person
And how amazing I will be as a partner
I’m standing in the horizon
I’m fully being seen
And I’m patient and faithful
That my man will soon meet me
